Mission
expects high demand amid crisis
The
Mission to Seafarers is preparing for an increase in demand for its
services as the shipping industry plunges into one of the worst
crises for 30 years. A report in this quarters issue of the society’s
newspaper, Flying
Angel News reports that as
the credit crunch bites, chaplains of the international maritime
welfare agency are helping more seafarers. It says they face
increased isolation and anxiety as they look towards an uncertain
future on laid up ships far from home.
